Nunavut Midnight Sun Marathon & Road Races

The Nunavut Midnight Sun Marathon is held each July in the Canadian Arctic community of Arctic Bay. Runners meet in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and depart from there for the five-day adventure in the far north.

 

Entry fees cover travel, accommodation, food, race entry and prizes from Ottawa to Arctic Bay and back to Ottawa.

 

The Nunavut Midnight Sun Marathon is the only marathon that takes place in Nunavut. It has achieved worldwide renown not only as an athletic event, but also as a cultural experience. It offers participants a complete experience - not just a run, but an opportunity for hiking and exploring the stunningly beautiful surroundings of north Baffin Island and interacting with people who live in a culture so different from their own. It also gives the runners a chance to meet other similar-minded runners from around the world.
